Cleanses have definitely been a trend the last couple years, and I think they are great! The scary part about cleanses is when you don’t eat, and deprive yourself of nutrients, vitamins and protein. Your body needs food, and I know what you are thinking, well people can go a long time doing the Cayenne, Maple Syrup and Lemon cleanse and they are fine. Yes, you lose weight quickly, but it is not a healthy way to lose weight. In my opinion, there are other cleanses that will leave you feeling good, losing weight, and feeling less toxic. You can still cleanse your body by eating healthy and picking the right foods. Our food that most of us eat are covered in pesticides, and I think it’s important to eat organic. I know organic is expensive, but it’s the old way of eating when people would just buy from their local farmers way back when. There were no labels for what was organic or what was not. My mom and I created a mini test to ask yourself if your body is toxic and if your body could use a cleanse:
1. Do you use commercial household cleaners, cosmetics or antiperspirants?
2. Do you eat commercial (non organic) fruits or vegetables?
3. Do you wear clothing that has been dry cleaned?
4. Do you eat processed food or fast food?
5. Do you eat in a restaurant more than twice a week?
6. Do you dye or bleach your hair?
7. Do you use cologne or perfume?
8. Do you drink alcoholic beverages regularly?
9. Do you drink non organic coffee?
If you answered yes to most of these, then a cleanse may benefit you. I did this test myself and realize I use or do a lot of these things. Everything in moderation is the best advice my mom has ever given me when it comes to health. I’m not saying go cold turkey and don’t use any of these things, but think about whats in it all. I didn’t know dry cleaning was so toxic to our skin, because of the chemicals they use which stay in the fabric. I also did not know antiperspirants were so dangerous as they put aluminum in it, which stops you from perspiring, but it is incredibly toxic. Sadly, the antiperspirants is the most effective at getting rid of odour, but it has been linked to Alzheimer’s, and Breast Cancer since it’s so close to the breast tissue. You can find deodorant in your local health food store, that is healthier to use. A good cleanse is the Wild Rose cleanse as you can still eat food, but you weed out things like dairy and other polluted foods. The Wild Rose cleanse is found in all health food stores. Remember…YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.
